Frequently Asked Questions

When did this program begin? Since our founding in 2010, GGN has worked with growers from all over the world including refugees, immigrants, asylees, as well as BIPOC American growers. We acquired this 23 acre farm in 2021. We spent the next two years installing infrastructure and improving the farm's soil through cover cropping and Organic amendments, and Co-Farmers began growing on this land in early 2023.

What is the farm program? Farmers rent land from Global Growers and have access to member-only workshops that help them establish and expand agribusinesses. Workshops focus on growing local crops, sustainable farm practices, microenterprise development, and market readiness.  This program is meant for individuals who already have production experience and who seek support to scale their businesses.

Where is the farm located? The farm is located at 2730 Bethel Rd NE, Conyers, GA 30012.

Who is this for? This program is for individuals who have previous growing experience (3+ years in the USA or elsewhere), the commitment to establishing a farm business, and the desire to be a part of a community of land stewards and local food system leaders.

What type of farm is it? It is a Co-Farm, meaning several farmers are running individual farm operations on the same 23-acre property. Each Co-Farmer has their own plot where they make their own decisions on what to grow and where to sell. Co-Farmers also have access to shared infrastructure such as a facility for washing, packing, and storing produce.

Is the farm Organic? Yes, the farm is a USDA Certified Organic fruit and vegetable farm. This means we follow strict standards to avoid synthetic chemicals, and emphasize sustainable farming practices. At this time, we do not have space for livestock/animals.

How does this differ from an Incubator Farm? Most Incubator Farms have a time limit for lease duration, typically one to three years. Though initial leases at the Rockdale Organic Co-Farm are for one year, Co-Farmers can renew leases indefinitely if they are good stewards of their land and maintain compliance with their lease agreement.  GGN strives to provide longer-term solutions to land access and enterprise development and thus seeks sustainable, collaborative partnerships with local entrepreneurs exploring agribusiness.
